Archaeology Week

June 11 to 15, 2012

Every year in June we celebrate Archaeology Week in Kingston to recognize this cities rich history uncovered through archaeology.

This  year some of our events include a geocaching challenge, a colouring contest for kids, and a talk given by one of our archaeologists.

First Capital Day

June 15, 2012 - from 9:00am to 2:30pm

Location: Confederation Basin

In 1841, Kingston was named the first capital when the provinces of Upper and Lower Canada united to form on Canada. Each year on June 15, the City of Kingston organizes festivities to celebrate this day with 1841-era activities in Confederation Basin. Once again, the Foundation will have an interactive booth that explains the history of Kingston at this important time through archaeology. Doors Open Kingston

June 23, 2012 - from 10:00am to 4:00pm

Location: 611 Princess Street

Once again we will be participating in Doors Open Kingston. Visit the Kingston Archaeological Centre for tours and to check out our new exhibit in the Interpretive Centre.

The Naval Hospital Unearthed: Public Archaeology Day

July 25, 2012 - 2:00pm

Location: Royal Military College of Canada, field near the Commandant's House
