From 2 to 4 November the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation invites you to the historic city of Kingston, an area witnessing thousands of years of Aboriginal occupation, the site of 17th and 18th century French fur trade post Fort Frontenac, and the strategic military and commercial centre of British Upper Canada during the 19th century. Much of this legacy still remains in the town's architecture and street names.
Conference sessions will be held at Confederation Place Hotel, on the waterfront and in the heart of downtown Kingston. The reception will be in the restored Memorial Hall of Kingston City Hall, a National Historic Site, while the Officers' Mess of Fort Frontenac will be the site of the banquet. Tours and workshops are currently being planned to take advantage of Kingston's over 20 museums and historic sites. Watch for more information at this site and at www.ontarioarchaeology.on.ca, as well as forthcoming Arch Notes.
Update October 15, 2007: A Silent Auction will be conducted Saturday in the book room and finishing up at the Banquet at Fort Frontenac. Items for the Silent Auction are still being solicited. If you can help out with this please contact us. Thanks!
The deadline for pre-registration is October 1, 2007 and is available via the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation website. Registration is also available during the Symposium starting Friday from 12:30pm until 7:00pm and will continue Saturday morning from 7:30am until 9:30am in the Confederation Place Hotel Lobby. Please note that pre-registration fees differ from registration fees during the Symposium; please review fee schedule for details. Once registered for the Symposium you will receive a special poster celebrating 25 years of archaeology in Kingston.
We have issued a call for papers and posters.
The flyer for the symposium is available for download as a PDF document (64 KB).
See you in Kingston!
