Under the K-Rock Centre
Excavations prior to the construction of the K-Rock Centre revealed the Cartwright property, dating to the late 18th century.

The Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation is a professionally staffed non-profit organization dedicated to the recognition, investigation, and preservation of Ontario's archaeological resources.

The majority of the non-profit activities of the Foundation are funded through archaeological consulting. The Cultural Resource Management team has the capacity and flexibility to manage a wide range of projects from the smallest survey and assessment to full scale excavations. The team works with developers, planners, utility companies, engineers, and construction crews to facilitate the integration of provincial heritage requirements into development plans. Archaeologists with the Foundation are fully licenced to practice in Ontario and have extensive experience in a wide range of consulting activities including:

  • Liason with provincial and federal governments
  • Historical research
  • Archaeological master plan development
  • Mitigation and monitoring
