Dr. Jeffrey Seibert, Senior Archaeologist

The Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation is delighted to announce that Dr. Jeffrey Seibert will be joining the team at the Kingston Archaeological Centre as Senior Archaeologist later in the New Year.

Dr. Seibert received his Honours B.A. with a major in Anthropology from York University in Toronto, followed by a Master’s degree in Anthropology from Trent University, focusing on the archaeology of the Ancient Maya. He earned his Ph. D in Archaeology from the University of Calgary, concentrating on the archaeology of Mesoamerica with a focus on the Classic Maya. After graduating from University, Jeff taught Anthropology, Archaeology, Latin American Studies and Archaeology at Trent University, the University of Calgary and the University of Guelph.

With over 10 years of experience in the field of archaeology, Dr. Seibert has worked on academic projects with the Naachtun Archaeological Project in Guatemala; archaeological projects relating to the Precontact and Post Contact periods in Ontario at a number of sites throughout the province, including canal sites, Precontact villages and 19th century military sites with Parks Canada; and various Cultural Resource Management projects throughout southern Ontario.

Dr. Seibert has published and presented papers on Ancient Mesoamerica, spatial analysis in archaeology and warfare and gender identity among the historic Iroquoian peoples of Ontario, Quebec and New York. In addition to this experience, Jeff has also worked in Belize, Guatemala, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

We welcome Dr. Seibert and look forward to a long and productive relationship as he leads the cultural resource management team and develops the Foundation's archaeological education programs and services.
