Plaque Rededication at Fort Frontenac

A rededication ceremony will take place on the site of the archaeological investigation of Fort Frontenac on Saturday, July 12. Fort Frontenac is located at the corner of Ontario Street and Place d'Armes in Kingston.

Display Opening at Murney Tower

On Saturday, May 17, the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation will open an archaeology-themed display at Murney Tower (at the corner of King and Barrie Streets in Kingston).

Interpretive Signage Unveiling at the Fort Henry Garrison Hospital Site

Three years of Can You Dig It? excavation at Fort Henry's old Garrison Hospital site will culminate Wednesday June 25 at 1:00 pm with the ceremonial public unveiling of a commemorative plaque and interpretive signage. Guided tours of the site will be offered by Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation Executive Director, Susan Bazely, who served as Camp Director during the "digs" at the Garrison Hospital. The event will take place as part of Kingston's Archaeology Week, which is being celebrated throughout the city June 23 through June 27.

Can You Dig It? 2003

The 2003 edition of the Can You Dig It? summer camp will start July 7. This year's site is located at the RMC Museum in Fort Frederick on the grounds of the Royal Military College of Canada.

Can You Dig It? Public Day at RMC's Point Frederick

The Can You Dig It? excavation at the RMC Museum on Point Frederick on the grounds of the Royal Military College of Canada will be open to the public on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at 1:30pm. The Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation will offer guided tours of their operations, and 'diggers' will be on-hand to answer questions.

Can You Dig It? Parents' Night

The Kingston Archaeological Centre will host an open night for parents of participants in Can You Dig It? 2003 on August 27 from 6:30 to 9:00pm. Refreshments will be served.

Season's End Dinner

The Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation will mark the end of the summer season with a dinner September 27, 2003 at 6:30pm at Fort Henry. The evening will include a perfomance. Tickets are $40 per plate, and must be purchased in advance. Please contact us if you are interested in attending.

Open House at the Kingston Archaeological Centre

The Kingston Archaeological Centre will host an open house in October, 2003. The evening will include a presentation by Susan Bazely, Executive Director of the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation.

Archaeology Week

The Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation will kick off the summer season by celebrating Archaeology Week from June 23 to 27, 2003. Details of the events will be annouced soon.

Annual General Meeting

The annual general meeting of the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation will take place Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at 7:00pm at Theatre 5 (in the J.K Tett Creativity Complex, 370 King Street West in Kingston). The guest speaker will be Chris Anderson from the the Ontario Ministry of Culture.

S & R Storefront Unveiling

On Saturday, March 1, 2003 at 10:30am, the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation will be unveiling a storefront display at S & R Department Store, 27 Princess St. in downtown Kingston.

The Leisure Showcase

The Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation will be at the Leisure Showcase at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour March 28 and 29, 2003. During the event we will be accepting registrations for Can You Dig It? 2003, Focus Programming, and the Kingston Association of Museums Summer Camp.

Membership Appreciation

On March 26, 2003, an open house will be held at the Kingston Archaeological Centre in appreciation of members of the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation. A video entitled Creepy Canada, and a video about Preserve Our Wrecks will be shown. Refreshments will be served from 6:30 to 8:00pm, with a cake-cutting at 6:45pm.

At 10:30am on March 31, 2003, the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation will open an archaeology-themed display at the Kingston Frontenac Public Library, 130 Johnson St. in downtown Kingston.

The Molly Brant One Woman Opera

The Molly Brant One Woman OperaThe Molly Brant One Woman Opera will be performed at St. George's Cathedral one night only, Friday, April 25, 2003; doors open at 7:00pm, and the performance will begin at 7:30. The opera was composed by Augusta Cecconi-Bates and will be performed by soprano Rhona Gale, flutist Carrie Wyatt, and pianist Augusta Cecconi-Bates.

Display Opening at Stauffer Library

On May 1, 2003 at 10:30am, the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation will open an archaeology-themed display at Stauffer Library on the campus of Queen's University.

Display Opening at the Isabel Turner Branch of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library

At 10:30am on June 2, 2003, the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation will open an archaeology-themed display at the Isabel Turner branch of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library, 935 Gardiners Road in Kingston.

Doors Open at the Kingston Archaeological Centre

The doors of the Kingston Archaeological Centre, formerly the Morton Brewery and Distillery, will be open to visitors on Saturday, May 17, 2003 from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Ontario Heritage Week

As part of Ontario Heritage Week, the Cataraqui Archaeological Research Foundation will hold an open house at the Kingston Archaeological Centre from February 17 to 20, 2003. A Kingston Archaeological Centre Quest video and a video about the excavation of Fort Frontenac will be shown between 10:00am and 12:00pm each day.
